When China had some minor protests earlier this year (which never even escalated), called the "Jasmin Revolution", Stratfor was all over it, reporting how it was such a significant event. Then come "Occupy Wall St" and similar movements occurring throughout the U.S., Stratfor just somehow seems to ignore all of it. Not even wanting to report on it. This just shows what a joke Stratfor has become. The Fox News of political intelligence. Leeching money off idiots who believe in Friedman's rubbish!

Sure no gaz deal has been signed, but there are much stronger force that push China & Russia towards each other. Those forces are continuous expansion of US presence in Central Asia, continuous militarization of the region, instability created by US failures in Afghanistan & Iraq & general unwillingness of US to recognize anyone's interests but their own in the region. That's on top of expanding China-Russian trade, military & technological cooperation.

Energy deal is not that important. Russia has enough European gas buyers and China has enough coal. This is just a demonstration to US, if you want to fuck up the world's economy and energy supply, we can deal with it.
