My wife is a filipina and I have been there 3X and am a student of the history.

In the Philippines they take great pride in their knowledge of English.the ability to speak English well is an indication of culture and learning. Some still consider Tagalog as a local language.

Unfortunately, Filipinos adapt very well to changes in our environment. When we were served the English language, we adapted to it. Before that, Spanish was it, and we did the same. Give us lemons and we will make lemonade, but watch out because we'll make strawberry cake out of it too. We do everything with pride, so I do not know how you came up with us not having pride in ourselves. Is it because we are bilingual (or sometimes trilingual or even more), and that you can't cope up?

I can't understand this thing about philipinos speaking philipinos and english at the same time. I mean if this is the philipino national television,why dont they just only speak philipino? why they have to sometimes jump into english back and forth.That is anoying. If the broadcast is for non-philipinos,they should only do it in english.ONly in television,even in their movies.Thats weird.CAn they be proud of themselves and not try to use english?
