I believe that you can make or break a killer planted aquarium with the right substrate. I use dirt in ALL of my planted tanks. Clay is a key ingredient to lush plant growth. Shown here is the red potters clay I smashed up to mix in with my dirt. The results are great. I highly recommend experimenting with some clay in your substrate if you are going to keep plants. Any questions please ask. Thanks for viewing. if you want your plants to grow in a planted tank you have to add dirt and clay to the bottom of your substrate. This is the clay i use in my planted tank. Check out www.fishtanktv.com for 168 members who do this!

  • @Dustinsfishtanks oh wtf thank god bro im doing dirt on my 29 gallon tank i dont wanna rush it becuz patience is key and you will have a bad ass lookin tank! : ) Where did you get the Amaco clay?

  • @Cichlidlover22 most arts and craft stores carry some kinda clay like this. I use the red stuff...

  • cant i use bricks and crush them

  • @Dontrail1234 i think they would lose some of the iron content after being fired. I would just spend the 10 bucks max on the clay. Or use some Ferric Iron nails....
