Good advice - been doing a something similar for years since I read some how-to book back in the 70's, I am also painfully shy at gatherings and getting people to talk about themselves not only generates that appreciation for your interest BUT it also takes a bit of pressure off of you to talk a lot.

That is a good idea of what to ask. I am always at a loss of what to say to people. Especially hot men. I think I will try that next time I am at a bar or party. Ok maybe a bar. I am never invited to anything likes parties. I don't wait for invites I hit the club or bar myself. My friends suck cuz they don't go out much.
