Drove up from Falmouth to a familiar site (lived near it once) to do some off roading in the woods with the Defender 90.

  • Nice Landy young man. Do those wing top air scoop's do any good? I notice you have one on the heater intake and one on the driver's side. What does the one on the driver's side wing top do? My Landy just has a blank cover there as the air intake is on the side of the wing. Regards, DZ.

  • Thank you DZ. The scoops do improve it a bit, they increase the amount of air draw through making it more powerful. The one on the drivers side is just a dummy one, to balance the look, I only put it on for that reason - of course you don't need it, probably increases fuel consumption ;) haha!

I will make more when I have the chance to go out in it, not much happening off road wise in Cornwall at the moment.

  • Haha fortunately we haven't been sprayed with water yet!!! No need for a forced intake, the Safari Snorkel is on mine which acts as a forced intake and is much higher than the bonnet!! Keeps dust and stuff out too. It's probably possible to make one though out of the dummy, but i'd be more inclined to attach it to the heated to double it!!!

  • Oooops, that should have said "fording". Oh, and because there is a water outlet in the lower assembly no water should go into your air induction pipes! Thus making the dummy scoop useful! A bit like a snorkel but not raised or nailed to your screen frame.

  • I wonder if you were to go ofrding in really deep water, would the air scoop act as a water scoop and give you a hot shower on the inside of your Land Rover, ha ha ha ha! Just an amusing vision I got in my head! Seriously now, would it be possible to use a left hand drive heater air intake assembly and scoop, to make a forced air intake to your air intake? It would raise your air intake and improve wading depth!

  • P.S. More Land Rover videos please!

  • Thanks! I wasn't keen on the LRX grille until I saw one on a soft to landy, and thought it made it look good (and similar to the SVX!!!). My Td5 has overdrive, was not bad coming up, did the whole day on 1 and a half tanks...

  • As you know, the blue V8 90. Falmouth? That's quite some effort, not sure how many fill ups in the V8 that would have been for me to get there! Very smart land rover though, the LRX Grille suits it, I was never a fan of them previously but yours looks right on it.

  • Hi there, yes it was the 4th! Which one where you driving? It was damn good fun, even if we came up from Falmouth area!

  • Was this on the 4th? Looks like you guys had fun too, we really could have used a winch there but that's all part of the fun.
