(Aug. 5)Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman remains in serious condition on Tuesday with a broken arm and elbow following a car accident on Sunday night. Freeman's vehicle crashed on a rural stretch of Mississippi Delta highway, careening off the road and overturning twice before landing in a ditch. Freeman, 71, and his passenger, 48-year-old Demaris Meyer, had to be rescued with a jaws-of-life machine.Bill Rogers, a retired police officer, told The Associated Press that he witnessed the accident near the small town of Charleston, not far from where the actor owns a home with his wife.Rogers said Freeman and Meyer were briefly unconscious when he got to the vehicle. Freeman was driving Meyer's 1997 Nissan Maxima, authorities said. According to his publicist, Donna Freeman, the actor was airlifted about 90 miles to the Regional Medical Center where he was treated for a broken arm, elbow and shoulder damage. @felixq78 When you are over 70, a broken bone is serious. Blood clots and infection are tripled in the elderly. Plus, he had a head injury, broken arm, elbow AND clavicle (which wasn't mentioned). So, next time you proceed to bash America or Americans, stop, think and show some humility and manners. No one here is making derogatory statements about Australians, are they?

LA Times: According to a source very close to the "Dark Knight" star, Morgan Freeman is "resting comfortably in the hospital and is on medication for the pain." "He broke his shoulder and arm, but he's doing OK. He's already laughing and joking around with the nurses."
