He's my favorite Matrix character as well. Just his clothing and humor are so serene and intimidating, like a dragon in human form.
Supposedly Jet Li was offered this role, I would have loved to see his interpretation of Seraph.

Seraph beat smith before. They fought again in part 3 but it wasnt shown. Obviously smith won that time, he even said "yes, but now there's more of me" or somethin before they fought.

@pmame32 seraph defeated smith ( I have defeated you before) and only due to the large numerical superiority and growing strength is smith able to defeat seraph. if not for this error in the matrix, seraph would be teh strongest (besides the chosen one)

seraph is the strongest in the matrix besides neo. he is a former agent of the first matrix were they had wings (notice when they enter the clubhose in reloaded he is called wingless, because his wings were cut off)
also the merovingian calls him his protege (teacher) and his judas, making it seem that seraph worked for him before he joined the oracle
