Namayani is nine years old and lives in northern Tanzania.
Her father makes his living by collecting sticks to sell to the Masai men as walking sticks, her step mother sells tobacco in the market every day. Her parents are keen for her and her sister to go to school and get an education but buying uniforms and exercise books is a problem for them.
A project is underway in Tanzania to improve the education of girls at 60 schools in the country. The project will continue until 2012 and aims to help girls attend school -- and stay at school long enough to finish their education.
