When smoking was allowed the air was in fact better in planes since they had to change the filter every three minutes allowing people to get fresh air. By now we get reused air instead since they don't have to change it anymore (to save money of course), which not only contain more carbondioxid but also cause dissiness, and makes it easier for viruses to thrive.
Not to mention because people now can't smoke on planes it also causes more air rage incidents than before.
