This is a demo of how I actually GOT the halter on Cha'Cote. Not the actual first time. Also I showed what he does if you try to just slip it on his nose. And how I actually put it on him now, by puting my arm over his nose and stopping the evasion. I did alot of prep work, with a rope over his nose before I slipped the halter on him. This day, he was quite upset that I treated like he is WILD still and chasing him with the whip. he is actually quite good at haltering and it is quite smooth catching him and getting it on.

  • omg ur boy is SO much calmer than my mustang...I've had her home for three weeks and can't even consider getting a halter on. -.-

  • @HavvahartKL

Well, he wasn't exactly not used to humans at this point in his life. He had been with humans for 6ys, but he was still wild. Take the time it takes and you WILL get there. there are alot of wild horse taming video's you can rent on giddy up flix .com.....and remember, it's not about the halter, it IS about the relationship. good luck to you and your mustang, wishing you years of friendship together.

  • Humbly...THANK YOU! I learned how to turn a halter inside out and do it from the rt side as he spent 5+ yrs not looking at humans from his left eye. I still have to first approach the rt side, but now easily get on the left and he actually puts his nose in the halter himself like he has been doing for his whole life. He is a 10yo BLM mustang and was still wild on 1-1-10. I haltered him 1-2-10 the day after I got him home. I LOVE him he is awsome!

  • if you want to get close to him try not facing him straight on in horse language that means "go away"...walk up to him in diagonals or keep your body turned slightly away from him...check out monty roberts "join up".... he discusses it there...hope it helps xx
