Respect for U2 !

As I see it, they are indeed mainstream, but mostly because the mainstream adapted to them and not them adapting so much to the mainstream. And well... being mainstream doesn't need to be inherently bad.

Well "Moonlily1" your comment is a perfect example of you being a U2 Fand without understanding the Christianity embeded within it. You are correct with Bono's Comment about organized religion.......But you are incorrect about your assumption and confusion of mixing Christianity with Catholocism. Catholocism is an organized religion, where Christianity is NOT, as a matter of fact it is not even a religion, but instead a way of living based on pure faith in the creator.

@Felixstryker I think it's a wild exagerration to call U2 a christian rock band. after all, I remember reading where Bono said something along the lines of where organized religion comes in, spirituality goes out the door. I think Bono's interest in connecting with things bigger than himself is less specific than 'christian' and I highly doubt that his intention with his lyrics is to preach the gospel so much as to express something within himself.

Catholicism is a sect not a religon and Christianity is to a religon. Christianity is not religon then I guess Islam,Wicca,Hinduism,Buddhism, Judaism,Taoism,Atheism and etc. aren't ones either then.

@strangerinwhite
Catholicism, Islam, Wicca, Hindusims, Buhdism etc............are all religions because they are Organized, controlled, and regulated by man.
Christiantiy is not. This is why Christianity is NOT a Religion, but rather a "Faith Based way of living" in Christianity we live by Faith and Faith alone in God without any rules or regulations created by or organized by man.
As Christians our relationship with Christ is direct and personal without any interferance form man.
