They helped the Banks, gave billions to Wall Street and the Auto Industry. Sent a few more billions to Iraq, and Afghanistan but now refuse benefits to the jobless voters who put them into office. We are talking Congress... and these guys in particular (Editorial http://AlamoCityTimes.com)

Say hello to even more crime, obviously. How else are the unemployed going to manage? Plus, morally, they are less criminal than those who make more than 200k a year.

Mason101: To be fair, Obama fully supports these benefits, while Republicans in a great majority don't. And you are right... that is their strategy... "numbers are down see... we don't need benefit extensions..." and then they proceed to accused the administration of socialism for helping jobless Americans. It's the conservatives plan... the domino effect... no benefits, no mortgage payment, no food higher welfare and food stamps. Bad economy... big government. Blaim Obama.

Obama wants to be able to say that he is improving the unemployment rate. When someones unemployment runs out, they are no longer factored into the unemployment rate hence, when a million people's benefits are cut, the rate decreases because they no longer count. They are swept under the carpet. There are a few Senators which understand this and are actively working to improve that situation- Stabenow (D) of MI in particular..its one huge game of chess

Republicans refuse to help millions of people in desperate need while doing all they can to give away 700 billion to the wealthiest Americans. Billions spent on corporate welfare to big oil and pharmaceutical companies is fine but helping people get through a few months on an average of 300 dollars a week is going to make us Greece. On and on the spending hypocrisy goes but when it comes time to spend on the people there is never any money.

Look, Dogfish1960... I am a 38 year old white man with some college education and many marketable skills to offer. I have been searching for a job since last year while going further into debt with college to get a degree that may or may not get me a job. After some 250+ applications from fast food to "big box" retail solutions I had exactly 2 interviews. I hope they do pass the bill. I have worked ALL my life and never once got help. I paid my dues. Be part of the solution, not another problem.

Dogfish1960 Even if you took early retirement, you can still apply and qualify for unemployment benefits. Just FYI and no need to tell people off. Be part of the solution no the problem.
