We imported almost 90 minutes of raw, unedited 8mm home movies (that had been transferred to VHS) into Adobe Premiere Pro. We then put various tangentially-related music beds under them. The music was selected for tempo, subject matter or general feel. The effect is to make the footage watchable and even entertaining.

This is but one segment, containing scenes shot in 1966 on the Jersey shore. The main character is Traci Skene, who was a year old at the time.

  • SWEEEEEEEET!

  • i LOVED THIS!!!!!!!!!

  • I can appreciate the 8MM footage. We have tons of it ourselves and also transfered it to VHS then PC. I made themed videos with music of most of the film and gave it to my parents. See my channel for some of them.

  • I loved it don't change a thing.

I can't believe that strangers can actually give their point of view about something so personal. just watch it and appreciate it for what it is without commenting.

    Get a life Jerk.

  • This is great! But i think you try to color correct the footage because it is faded from age. But the editing and music are great!

  • I'm 47 years old and this video looks just like the photos I have of my family when I was a kid. The blond middle son could be me and the older brother reminds me of my own brother. We have no film of our days at the beach, but the your video triggered the dormant video inside my memory.

  • Can I make a constructive suggestion without hurting feelings? Cut out the two jazz intro songs.. this is a very small production, not David Letterman, and they detract from Sly and the Family Stone. The collage of old home movies is Great! But don't step on Sly's toes! ;)

  • I love that hat the baby is wearing....the little straw cone-type hat....so, so cute!

  • Yeah, we really had great childhoods. So simple, so fun. Safe. I have so many wonderful memories of vacations with my mom, dad and sister...and no matter where we went, Dad always made sure we would take a few extra days to go to the beach somewhere and enjoy the ocean.

  • That little kid could be me on the beach.. White sox and white rim sun glasses. Modest bathing suits and most of all the feeling of being safe and the price of gas to get to the ocean was 19.9 cents gallon....
