Here is a suggestion I read from someone else's video on here. After you pour the hot water over the grounds, set a saucer on top and brew for 3.5 minutes. Remove the saucer and WITHOUT STIRRING use a couple tablespoons to remove as many of the grounds from the top before plunging. This allows the plunger to go down more easily AND reduces the grounds that the remaining cups of coffee will be standing in -- helps stop the continued brewing. Schoene Gruesse!

again personally, i don't want it to be clean like drip filter coffee :)
unlike drip filter methods (paper or metal/gold filter), with the french press method i like some sediment in the cup which also add some darkness and body to the coffee. maybe this is the result of drinking our traditional foamy Turkish coffee which is poured to the cup without filtering the grounds or sediment :)

personally i like my french pressed coffee with foam and i pay extra attention to transfer it to the cup...
and what is your reason to remove the foam??? interesting...
It gives a much cleaner cup, You should give it a try :-)
