  • Holy shit, guys are you LISTENING to what he`s playing ?? He`s 9years old, and he`s playing awesome !! And I know something about music !!

Keep it up little boy :-)

Please look at his 10-10-10 performance. Search under Marc Yu, Laura Jackson and Reno Philharmonic.

  • i agree with previous comments in that while marc has potential, i don't think he was technically or mentally ready to play this at the time this video was recorded. i think it would've helped to expose him to some of beethoven's sonatas/other classical period pieces before attacking this concerto; the point is not to race and become the youngest to place such and such concerto. and no, i will not post a video of myself playing this--that's not the point of constructive criticism.

  • @mdoub Yes, conductor is a little annoying, he always seems to be urging the orchestra to do things, instead of be in the same side and offer confort. He makes a lot of innecesary "visual noise" and it's confusing

  • @zhangshinyi

It does not seem to hurt him. He is not pushed by others. He pushes himself and will only get better with age.

  • Yes, still practicing hard. It is more difficult to load youtube videos these days because of copy right issues.

  • what is he doing these days?? he is now 12 years old right? is he still playing the piano? there is no late videos...

  • Marc Yu's Brother Phyuck Yu plays the spoons like a boss.

  • Yu is not struggling with being pushed, if you've watched "My Brilliant Brain" : Born Genius, he voluntarily practices 8 - 10 hrs a day and says he "loves every minute of it", as far as i'm concerned, he's confident in his playing, if there might have been mistakes, it's most likely the result of something physical

  • It's not a question of jealousy. There are some reasonable criticisms here. Parents and record companies often push kids hard at too early an age. Yu is obviously struggling with it, he sounds nervous, unsure, like a guy lifting weights that are too heavy. Please read the autobiography of Rubinstein... Joseph Joachim was so smart when he told R's parents to let the kid have a childhood. But our commercial world just eats up kids. I don't care if he is a genius, he'd remain one w/t the concert.

  • omg u are good wee man

  • I honestly go to school with him. He didn't tell people that he was on Ellen or Oprah and then he performed for us. Then kids asked how he was so good and then he announced to my school
