That's a dramatic step and should not be taken lightly, particularly because it is nonreversible. It only removes the gender dysforia. nothing else. Unfortunately, too many us think it is a magical cure all that solves ALL our problems. When it doesn't disappointment and regret may set in.
Here in the Netherlands less than 1 % have expressed regret.

Why would anyone this kind of life?
No one but we are stuck with it none the less.
In the end, there are 3 options:
- ignore it for as long as you can (and be increasingly miserable)
- try to fix your head with what is known as reparative therapy. In 99% of cases that won't work and it leads to increased risk of suicide.
- or change the body as best as can be done considering the circumstances.
Sigh, next time start reading ALL and EVERYTHING before plucking those things that fit your preconcieved opinion from the internet.
BTW what have the movie about Hedwig and Lady Gaga to do with your hating on transgender people in general and those of us who are transsexual specifically?

I apologize if you are offended by my messages. I do not hate transgender people. I just hate the idea that the issues that transgendered people face can be solved through surgery and hormones. It is the same with my view on Feminism. I hate feminism, yet I do not hate women.
If you were one of the lucky transgender people who are able to live a fulfilling life as a post-op, that's great. However, I believe that it is dangerous to promote this alternative to young impressionable children.

I make a connection between Lady Gaga and Hedwig because Gaga promotes that same glam rock image that promotes debauchery, drug use and hyper-sexualization. In my opinion, Lady Gaga may very well be a drag queen or a transgendered person. Just my kooky theory that's all. I could be wrong, but this is certainly something to consider.
Hedwig represents the confusion and misery that transgendered people endure. Why would anyone want this kind of life?
