  • "EQ is as important as IQ." There is a fundamental confusion in the suggestion that working on these are somehow at odds. The purpose of education is to get knowledge. That doesn't mean that you can't also learn how to understand others while you're in school. Of course you should. None of this implies that we should send kids to preschool, or that we should de-emphasize academics. There's a huge gap here in the speaker's argument. -- Scary: an academic thinks she can "create the people."
