The song title is:
"Oriental Man" by Jimmy Blythe

I recorded this tune during one of the sets of the Uptown Lowdown Jazz Band at The 15TH ANNUAL GLACIER JAZZ STAMPEDE. The festival always happens in early October.

Uptown Lowdown is one of the most popular bands on the dixieland/trad jazz circuit today, and I can never seem to get enough of their spectacular music.

Band Members:
Bert Barr - Cornet/Leader
Rose Barr - Piano
Tom Jacobus - Trombone
Paul Woltz - Reeds
John Goodrich - Reeds
Paul Hagglund - Tuba
Al LaTourette - Banjo

Check out the websites above for more information and CD's.

I hope you can be there in 2009!

  • I used to play the jazz festivals with the Wild Rose All Star Band from Calgary and always marveled at Paul and John. Uptown Lowdown is obviously still one of the best traditional bands around. Has anyone recorded and posted Dinah ? They always tore that one up !

  • Great job on the saxes, thanks

  • Great job, old boys!!!! You are the GREATEST! Best wishes from Brazil!!!

  • Love the music. The man on the left almost lost his bass sax while adjusting his mouthpiece at 3:28, fairly careless move on his part. hopefully he learned something from that, besides a good heart palpitation or two!

  • Hi Bob!

What a fantastic, fun job it is witnessing this wonderful music, and taking part in the tradjazz community of delightful musicians, dancers and festival attendees! Life is good!

    Thanks for watching!
