  • A buddy of mine used to be huge; he started eating better and going to the gym every day for a year. He has lost "a ton" of fat. I've asked him the secret, he said after a workout he always eats something sugary, so his body won't heat its muscles,

instead the insulin levels will go up and save his muscles and burn only fat (prior to this phase of eating the energy bar or something sugary).

But you're suggesting not to eat until 1 hour after the cardio. Have I forgotten what he was telling me?

  • @CalgaryAlpineStyle no you have not forgotten anything...just you are doing what the majority do...that don't realize there are 2 phases to getting your ideal shape... you have to shed fat first ...and this is the rule I speak of in this clip...the second phase is muscle building... where you intake within the first 60 mins... we are speaking of the same thing... but it is wise to do the fat loss phase first then follow the second rule...ok?~ahmad

  • ermm do not drink or eat for one hour after cardio work out? so by means not even plain water?

  • @violentpumpkin13 do not drink any sugary beverage ...you CAN drink plain water anytime...watch my lesson 2-4 clips please.~ahmad

  • I heard that if you take sugar after your work out its actually good for you because it rushes the nutrients and proteins to the needed areas. dont quote me its just what i heard. I am not sure if this is true?

  • @wheredah0odat adding sugar right after your workout is fine if you wish to build muscle. It boost the body's insulin levels creating a perfect blood chemistry for growth. My thoughts for making this clip a while back was to drop fat first...and the best method for doing this is to leave the system empty of new sugars for 60 mins...allowing the liver to break down your fat cells for energy...thanks for posting...~ahmad

  • FYI 220 minus your age is only theoretical. Everybody has a different maximum heart rate.

Clinical testing shows some people are as high as 250 to 260. Your maximum is not some formula number, it's simply the FASTEST YOUR HEART CAN BEAT, period.

The best way to determine your maximum heart rate is a VO2 max test. I'm 46, and using the formula my max would be only 174. However, my VO2 max test shows it's REALLY 204.

If I used 174 for my zone calculations, it would be totally wrong. FYI.

  • My Island Sis Gave me your link (Trinilez4u2luv) My name is also Nat and this was very Informative ty looking forward to your video's and workouts Blessings :)

  • so sugary food after work out? does yogurt count or low fat yogurt? plain flavored? with berries?

  • 220- my age right?

  • @CalgaryAlpineStyle

The way I understand it, is, on the way back home, my body's energy resources of sugar and carbs and glycogen are low, so if I eat an energy bar, the body will use this plus my body's fat as energy on the bike home.

On the other hand, if I don't eat that energy bar while exhausted, my body would use its fat + muscle as energy so basically I would lose muscle mass instead of conserving it and use the energy from the energy bar instead.

    Thanks for answering, ahmad,

well, I sort of understand this, but I've got to do more research; in my own case, I've figured

that if I eat that energy bar after a long work out it gives me energy, else I would feel exhausted, for example if I bicycle to the gym and back home, (50 minutes each way), if I eat an energy bar after gym before heading home I will have much more energy during the bike back and afterwards. Without that energy bar, my bike back would be a slog only.

  • @CalgaryAlpineStyle (continuation) I've spoken with my buddy awhile back so I may miss a few points here, but

as I remember, he said that eating something sugary immediately after the workout, his insulin levels goes up

and thus the body will use this sugar for energy instead of the muscles (cannibalism pretty much), because he has already used the sugar in his body and the glycogen and the next available fuel is muscles and fat.

  • What about eating before? should we do it or no and how much time before.
