  • Bach's overtures are the best I think. Not only are they dramatic like the typical Baroque overture, but also full of emotion. This one creates such an uplifting feeling of hope :D

  • i love bach. he is my favorite composer and this is one of my favorite pieces.

  • calle 13 brought me here

  • @US51351142 - Yes, I've wondered that myself at times. Some scholars say as many as half of his works were lost. I'm just happy half survived. Very happy.

  • @US51351142 'reeked of jealousy' :)))) actually I'm usually the one who explain early music stuff - and not to hairdressers but to students from all over the world and colleagues - being professor for historical informed performance at the biggest music University in Europe...and, no, I didn't post another version but I did post my own rickety lute versions of Bach music. You know, not knowing things is not a shame, the problem is arrogance. As I said: just enjoy the music ;-)

  • @basileusLXXXIII I agree this is a truly magnificent recording. Think how much more we are missing from works by the master that were never found. I understand there were works relating to the Overtures that were lost. Perhaps revisions.

  • @lachi1905 Your comment is juvenile and lacking logic. Discuss it with your hairdresser. Maybe he can explain it to you. Did you post another version of the same work but with antique, rickety instruments?

I thought so. Your smelly reply to my post reeked of jealousy. Actually your nonsensical reply only makes sense referring to yours.

  • @US51351142 If you like it, why don't you try to enjoy it without posting such nonsense?

  • @barriospk Yes I have and it is absolutely magnificent!

  • The best ever of the Overture to No. 1. How can you listen to antique instruments after this? Bach and others were always complaining about the instruments. Imagine Bach listening to this. The cockles on his neck would be on fire. It is so majestic and heavenly. Thank you for posting this and where is the CD?

  • excelent!!
