Nick Clegg leads rally welcoming Gurkha Commons vote 29 April 09

The Government was defeated on 29th April 2009 over plans to restrict the number of Gurkhas who could settle in the UK. A Liberal Democrat Parliamentary motion was passed with all party support which called on the Government to give Gurkhas an equal right to residence. This video is of Nick Clegg's speech to the Gurkhas outside Parliament after the vote.

Gordon Brown was against it due to a misreading of public opinion, he thinks the British public are against immigration (which they largly are) but that negativity isnt relaly put on the Gurkha's since though fought for this country, its just Brown trying to get back up in the polls more than an actual position.
