I agree with trjma!!! and what the heck are day caps and i didnt learn anything from that hair sticking out thing but i did get a few laughs especially when you started to shake your hair rofl!

@rawRac1822 This is part of a series of videos I made to help people where I work with clothing and hair issues. We are a living history museum, and the staff dress up in reproduction historic clothing to share the past with our guests.

I think you have the right technique - but your hair is not nearly long enough for a bun. Grow another 6+ inches and try again.
I had to laugh when you said that it needed "one more pin" - LOL - It needed about 30 more at that point.

I didn't really explain to the YouTube public at large, but I made that video to show interpreters at our living history museum the right way to put their hair up under their daycaps. It needs to be a high bun, and it doesn't matter if it's a little messy when it's covered by a daycap. The only reason I'd need 30 more pins was if I was trying to tuck every hair in place.

A baby bonnet is sort of descended from a day cap. They covered most of the hair and ranged from quite plain to elaborately sheered, ruffled and tucked creation.
