My buddy Larry and I go for a ride down Hwy. 30 in Oregon. This starts right down the street from my house in Mosier. I'm riding my 2007 Suzuki Bandit 1250S and Larry is riding my wife's 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 650R. The video is shot with a Panasonic HDC-SD-9 High Definition camera. The camera is mounted on my helmet. I'm using a Century Precision Optics 0.3X Fisheye lens on the camera.

  • As a police officer and rider I have seen lots of fatals from people that are awsome at the track. This rider is doing a great job managing the corners. You have to ride with that yellow line in mind, not the outside edge. Keep the turns wide anticipating a person coming into yourt space. Of course speed is the ultimate coffin nailer and I go fast myself so am no saint. Just don't ride beyond your skill when riding with others....B Safe!

  • You live in Bike Paradise, bro...

  • It is definitely videos like these that I inspired me to get my licence, the first time my instructor took us out on a "scenery route" outside and round belfast, I fell in love, hoping to get my first bike this month!

  • Yeah, FYI kids, ALWAYS put your CoG inside of the bike's centerline when leaning into a turn.

  • Nice video of a beautiful road.

In terms of riding technique the lead rider could use some race track training to learn how to take corners. He obviously doesn't understand how a slight weight shift to the inside of a corner makes a dramatic increase in cornering margins.

Hopefully he'll learn before he kills himself. Scary rider IMHO!

  • You've really got some nice roads for fun driving -sigh!

  • paradise ?! nice movie =D

  • dear transam - do u actually ride a bike? there are so many dickheads make stupid comments like this on these videos it never ceases to amaze me

  • Nice road, those near my location are so boring...

  • No, it's not the lens. This is an old old road with curves that are legendary. It's narrow with steep rock faces and little or no shoulder.

As far as being a good place to get killed? Complete Bullshit. Any place you ride like an asshat is a good place to get killed. Hwy 30 is no worse than anywhere else for someone who knows how to ride a bike. The sightlines are good, the surface is very good, and the traffic is very light on most days.

If you can't turn your bike, it's time to learn how.

  • @455Transam Perhaps it's the fish-eye lense that makes the road look narrower and the ride look faster than it really is. As for my "learning how to ride," son, I started as a 15 year old roadracer at Mid-Ohio in 1979 and I'm currently scraping the peg feelers off of a 2008 Bandit 1250S in the mountain canyons near my home. I've attended several racing schools and taught rider courses over the last 32 years and 280,000 miles. I'll teach you.
