  • i honestly believe that he is unbeatable at 10f, he won the cox plate (the second time) at the 600m all the other jocks new it too, in particular the one he was stalking who was lots for words with the amount of pressure SYT put on his mount, more joyous, a multiple G1 winner.

i would almost go as far to say that nothing going around anywhere atm could beat him from a mile to a mile and a half. i was at all his starts in aus last prep, just get there and see him!!!!!!!!!

  • @bjnash100 yeah I was at the track when he won the Cox Plate, absolutely stunning!! Black Caviar is definately the best sprinter going around though but both brilliant horses. When you get a chance, check out my website and tell me what you think....would appreciate if you could tell your friends about it too ;)

  • I reckon you are spot on with all your observations Beret, will be a great battle when they meet! Stay tuned I say :)

  • Such a stunning horse, pity it had to be taken off Australian shores but share the love I say!!

  • his good, his very good

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger I hadn't forgotten him, or Tobin Bronze which had the misfortune of running into Damascus and Fort Marcy when they were resuming their duel. He ran a memorable third. Sailor's Guide doesn't get the accolades here because he lived in the shadow of the mighty Tulloch. The two Kiwi pacers you mention beat two of the greatest ever Brett Hanover and Overtrick (with Niatross). Cardy was the Phar Lap of harness racing.

  • @bgardiner2000 See, BG, you and I know that SYT 10 November 2006, which means that he was still a 2yo by the Gregorian calendar when he won his first Cox Plate, the youngest ever. He is 4 years and 8 months now. When our 3yos, like Choisir, go to the UK, they are treated as 4 under their WFA scale there. The USA apply a split scale allowing for the lag in the breeding seasons. Choisir would have beaten Oasis Dream in the July Cup carrying the same weight, and awarded Champion Sprinter title.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger Sugar Tom, you are making a great deal of sense. It is hard lining up you great dirt horses, like the Dr, with the Brits. They have fabulous old tracks that test out a horses stamina, even in sprints. Your marquee tracks are flat and fast, without undulations and demanding hill climbs. Some of the times recorded by G1 winner in England for a mile (1m 45 plus), wouldn't win a camel race at Birdsville. As for the exorbitant claims made for Frankel...

  • @SvendBosanvovski You forgot Sailors Guide. He won the Washington DC International beating Ballymoss. The race was renamed as the Breeders Cup Turf. Pacing horses like Cardigan Bay and Caduceus beat the best in the US. Sailors Guide ended up winning over £100,000, with only Caduceus and Tulloch matching that in Australia or NZ at the time.

  • I really liked the article that Sam Walker wrote for Racing Post's web-site making a case for So You Think being a horse with enough class to potentially pull off an Arc-Breeders Cup Classic double. I also believe that SYT could potentially accomplish the feat, also. Although I think he'd be more likely overturned in the Arc than he would be in the Classic. Not because of the distance, but the competition. IMO, even on conventional dirt, SYT would blitz the American horses in the Classic!! TJMO.

  • @SugarTomAppleRoger I am with you there SugarTom. Under the old quarantein regime, our best ( that is Aussie Kiwis) were never able to show their wares to the world because of our isolation. But all has chnaged with horses like Starcraft, Elvestrom, Haradasun, Takeover Target, Miss Andretti, Scenic Blast, Falvelon, Mummify, and Starspangledbanner being competitive in top racing centres.

  • @bgardiner2000 And he was not 4 years of age by the calendar when he ran in the cup. He will be bigger and stronger now. Australia didn't see the best of him, and that is scarry for his opponents.

  • @711ATOM His sire, High Chaparral won the Irish and English Derbies, as well as the Breeders Cup Turf, all run over a mile and a half. Northern Dancer is on both sides, and through the great Nijinski on the distaff. He will get a strong mile and a half, have no doubt about that.
