Here, in Act 2 Sc 1, Amneris, played by the deviously sinister Lois Maxwell (with the voice of Ebe Stignani), tricks Aida, played by Sophia Loren (with the voice of Renata Tebaldi) into confessing her love for Radames. The lip syncing is so good, one scarcely realizes that it is not the actress' voices that one hears.

  • too bad this scene is butchered with cuts.

"Butchered with cuts"?? Could you be more specific? Did the film cut parts of the opera? Or are parts of the film missing?

  • If I'm not mistaken,,,the film makers cut a fair amount of music from the Amneris-Aida scene....skillfully done..but since this duet between them is so wonderful...it is a shame that all of the music was not included.
