Rachel Alexandra Beats The Boys At Pimlico

Rachel Alexandra, with Calvin Borel aboard, won the 134th running of the Preakness Stakes at Pimlico Race Track in Baltimore, Maryland, with Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird finishing second. Mr. Borel rode MTB to the Derby win two weeks earlier. Rachel became the first filly to win the Preakness since 1924. The race was run on May 16, 2009. For some reason the video quality is much much better here than the other preakness 2009 videos that were posted. It's easier to see the horses.

Isn't it good? My brother has one of those hand-held high definition camcorders with a memory card. He recorded right off the television.

"Our" Kentucky Derby footage is also great quality. We did the same thing, and I think the official site "stole" the material from us. I saw their original footage, and it wasn't very good. Next thing I know, "our" material is on their site right down to the second.

Tom Durkin did a far better job calling this race than the Kentucky Derby. He made this one even more exciting, I think.

This guy thinks he is a military commander moving pieces around on a map. If the stars don't align and the tooth fairy does not wave his magical wand, then his filly will not attend the "Race for the Ages".

Charles Cella should leave the purse at 5 million and let the coward and his trainer stay at home.

He didn't want to go out to Santa Anita and he doesn't want to show up at Oaklawn

Yeah, another 1/16 eh, maybe Mike Smith thought it was 10 furlongs, same as the derby because he doesn't usually ride back east or maybe the trainer told him the wrong distance or maybe RA's connections sneaked out the night before the race and moved the posts and finish line. Maybe MTB should get some sort of consolation TC because he won the gallop out after the finish,

OR maybe if Big Drama doesn't push RA to a 46 3/5 half and she gets to go 47 4/5 or 48 MTB gets beat 5 lengths.

If the race was another 16th of a mile- she loses! She was all out at the end and Mine that Bird passed her easily 5 jumps after the wire. She can never get the Belmont distance- even against (As Andy Beyer said) this poor crop of males.
