We always worry about our Russian skaters who enter competitive conciousness so dramatically, and then suddenly disappear to ignominity (Ice time in the Vladivostok salt mines is hard to come by!!). Russian men, like Americans, have to fight for world team spots.....and the toss of a coin can sometimes seriously stifle a career path tragectory! Igor lost his spot to a pithy compatriot who would later claim an Olympic Gold Medal, Ilia Kulik!!
In Russia, 'Spiderman' must mean something else entirely, but this was a thoughtful program that demonstrated his technical ducks were certainly all lined up in a row!! I wish we could have seen more!!!
And I hope they allowed him to coach or teach, rather than consign him to a life packaging rock salt for the Japanese fish industry.
