The Pride of Erin is a popular dance in Australia yet each state has a separate version. Here the dancers at the bush dance during the Maldon Folk Festival 2010 are dancing the Victorian version.

The band is a combination of the Gay Charmers who have an excellent dance tempo and the Emu Creek Bush band. Both bands have CDs available. The tune is the old tearjerker "If those Lip could only Speak"

  • The Victorian version has the man's aright arm around the ladie's waste at the start of it. i don't know where this came from. i did this in my medals dancing and I can tell you this isn't the right one.

  • @mollymitch1 I merely record the dances and this one was announced as the Victorian Version, there were many dancers and versions on the floor plus you need to remember that this is social dancing not medals. Many of the dancers wee members of the Bendigo Bush dance or Colonial Dancers as well as public...these are the socialdances down regurlarly around the country and at music festivals.

  • @Dmentias The most interesting version I have seen is the one they do in WA. Totally different and if it was done in Victoria you could almost call it a different dance and get away with it. I don't have the link now but if you have some time on your hands sometime it is worth scrolling through the different versions and looking at it.

  • @mollymitch1 If you look, you can see that there are 2 different styles being performed.. both the NSW version and the Victorian one are being danced.. 2 different Versions...

  • It might be the Maldon version but not the Official Victorian version check with the ADS. The Victoriian version also does not have the rock

  • Again beautiful music and dancing.
