Comparision test between a hypertech and a superchips cortex programmer on my 2008 Frontier 2wd automatic.
The 87 octane tests were done in 40 degree weather about ten minutes apart from each other.
The 93 octane tests were done in 55 degree weather about 15 minutes apart from each other.
The superchips tests were done with the rev limiter raised (hypertech does not have this feature). I also tested the superchips on 93 octane with the timing advanced 2 and 3 degrees but the times were not as fast as they were with the timing at 0.

  • What does the throttle restriction removed mean

  • @MarineCore48154

throttle restriction is where the computer in the truck will not allow the throttle plate in the intake to open fully. Your gas pedal may be to the floor, but the truck is not actually "wide open" until around 35mph. What most if not all programmers can do is stop that from happening. They allow the throttle to be fully open then pedal is to the floor. No matter what speed your going. Removing this restriction is where most of the improvements in speed are obtained.

  • hey how did you like the superchip tuner? i want one for my truck but i'm wondering shoul i go with diablo sport or superchip programmer?

  • I only used the superchips for a month or so. I borrowed it for the test. But I can say I like the unit. I don't know anything about the diablo, but the superchips had a lot of features. The superchips made a difference you really can feel, just not as much as the hypertech.

  • do you have any other mods on your frontier? i have a K&N CAI and want to install a gibson exhaust then the cortex!?

you make good video's though every other question was answered

  • My truck is totally stock, besides my wheels.

  • Wonder how the bullydog gt tuner would compare?

  • Would be pretty legit if it were tested on a decent vehicle. A nissan frontier, really? Who the F' takes into consideration performance of a non performance truck, when there are numerous options on the market that far exceed this test subject?

  • man i want a chip for my pathfinder, are they safe?? would you recommend bully dog, cortex,diablo...??? thanks

  • This isn't a way to test these devices. In order to really know what you're getting, you need a dyno.

  • i wanna ask, does the hypertech chip feature any type of idle control

  • Stock 87octane 7.6s 0- 60 15.99s 90.5mph 1/4 mile superchips 7.07 0-60 15.54s 92.2mph 1/4mile hypertech 6.74s 0 -60 15.28s 93.8mph 1/4 mile 93 octane superchips 6.86s 0-60 15.34s 93.6mph 1/4 mile hypertech 6.77s 0-60 15.27s 94.7mph 1/4 mile
  • Has anyone heard anything about the Bully Dog Triple Dog GT? Seems to have more features and shift on the fly capabilities, just wondering if performance numbers are similar to these. I have an 06 SE KC w banks monster exhaust and CAI on the way.

  • that thing is a turd lol
