Well in my opinion props add to the overall effect. and i agree they should dance in the routine. that is part of the traditional cheerleading. and yes they do great tumbling and baskets here but i feel that they lack the difficulty we have now.

well instead of squad back handsprings they have squad fulls now and they dont start off a routine with round off backs. they didnt use props then and now they have signs and poms everywhere and stunts are harder now.

Regardless of "change", I liked the competitions in the 90's better. "Props" don't add much.The overall athleticism with the girls has not increased-show me a team today with more toned girls than these. Today, there seems to be even more specialization-with the flyers getting ever smaller. And, at least with CCNC on ESPN, they don't even do a dance routine these days-it's just stunts with no rhythm. Bigger guys, smaller girls. But it's not as if they don't also do great tumbles and tosses here.

They placed 3rd. (Univ. of Kentucky won to begin a long chain of firsts). Still, this Alabama team is my all time favorite. 95' was a good year all around.
