During Montreal Fashion Week, 22 LABoratoire Créatif designers, including Raina-Clair Gillis of Olivanella, outfitted 21 well-known Quebecois artisans in support of the "Look Good Feel Better" program. Raina-Clair Gillis' featured "robe de soirée" for the exclusive Benefit Fashion Show primarily reflected the inherent grace and elegance of Maria Callas (the muse of the show) while embodied the evocative, intelligent, and passion that "is" Argentinean Tango. (Some of you, but not all know that the wearer of the gown, Mylene Pelletier, is a professional Argentinean Tango dancer). The elongated five-layered gown consisting of pleated Habotai silks, smoky organzas, Spanish-styled laces and exotic appliqués (Swarovski crystal beads and ostrich plumes to be precise), conjures up visions of Callas illuminated by gas floodlights of operatic main stages the world round, while simultaneously alludes to the tension of emotion and personality between any given tango temptress and her step-partner. Aesthetically tantalizing and filled with expectation, such a dress magnifies it ALL in stride.
