Collaboration with the Co-Lab Outlet magazine brings together four artists to create one body of work. Last issue, collaborative beauty was realized when Outlet brought together five relative strangers to produce one cohesive series of art. In planning this issue, however, we were intrigued to find a local organization already dedicated to artistic alliance: The Co- Laboratory. Founded by writer Minna Betancourt, illustrator and motion graphics artist Alex Farkas-Worthy, photographer Zach Chambers and illustrator Clayton Walsh, Co- Lab offers a studio, workspace and gallery space for emerging local artists. So, one cold night in February, Outlet challenged the Co-Lab team to the Spring Collaboration challenge. Armed with a poem written by Betancourt for inspiration, each of the four started a panel, placing upon the page whatever moved them to create. After 20 minutes, they each switched canvases, repeating the process until each member had added their own touch and taste to the works. What emerged is a look inside creative cohesion and experimentation. The Co-Laboratory is located on the corner of Hall Street and East Broad Street in Savannah, GA.
