  • I really like the way David uses a clicker tool. Makes perfect sense. I don't see anything wrong with asking the horse to come into you. As is being done here.

  • Darn right the horse is going to come to me ,not me go them..lolol and yes this great for horses who put their head in the corner and say no I dont want to,, or a horse that will kick the heck of you .Of you could along with the feels goodys and take a hand full of carrots.. then you have a horse that will kick you and run you over.lol

  • This is awesome, I would like to try this with my horse that takes off hell bent for leather whenever you get near him with a halter. I do have a question though, when I let him out of a pen into a pasture he will walk out of the gate but as soon as he is an inch away he takes off running and kicks his hind feet far to close to my face. And he has done this with my dad and I know he will end up hurting someone if he keeps this up. Any suggestions on how I can get him to quit this behavior?

  • It works,,, now some people seem to get upset about the whip.lol but heck I am not abusing the horse it is a tool.Plus after one or two sessions I dont need none of it..I dont want to get the horse or me depending on having to have tools at the end of the day it should be just you and the horse.

  • OH on the last part of you email,,, on a horse like that it all depends how bad it is.. first I wont take the halter all the way off ,, I will slip on his nose ,but keep a part of it around his neck so he faces me..Then I make them stand there ,,Then I will back away . Also if I have a long lead I will put that around his neck ,not tide and as I walk away I am able to keep his head towards me.Now if they are real bad with it I use to halters and leads I take one of and when they try to turn

  • I am sure it would if you could see the boy now.Well I guess you can,lol since I keep putting him up on youtube.I wish I was able to show how aggressive the horse was and how he didnt want anything to do with anyone.

  • david...love your videos...except whoever does your videography needs to cover the mike on windy days. It makes it real hard to listen with all that wind going thru the mike.

  • throw the clicker away in this case, you dont need it. I suspect that is to placate video watchers that are 'sold" on a device , rather than actual horse training.. David it is obvious you put pressure on the horse, when he turns and faces you take pressure away. The basis of most horse training. I appreciate your videos. There have been some ideas there to help me approach some training scenarios I have.

  • I have never seen this before, you really have a gift. I have enjoyed your videos my only negative comment is that it can be hard to hear you speak sometimes with the wind on the mic, if there was something you could do for that it would be much easier to hear you. But thanks, and good on you for giving those horses a chance others gave up on.

  • David, I've been watching all of your videos (it's taking me a while!!) and am learning alot... A question about the clicker....I understand you click when you touch the horse with the whip, but what is the goal - what is the horse supposed to do? Is it supposed to come to you? Just trying to get it straight...how does the horse know to come to you? Thanks!!!

  • You know David, at times I've found some horses get stuck in the corners of the round pen and this would be the perfect tool to help them out . They know you want them to move, the horse knows you don't want moving left or right, the horse can't move forward but they have a real hard time picking up on the inside turn to come in. I like your use of the clicker tool and I'm trying it!

  • This is NOT Clicker Training - Positive Reinforcement Behavioural Training,

this is simply a man miss using the clicker tool as a NEGATIVE R which is nothing to do with Clicker Training.

David have the guts to leave this comment on here for people to read - let them decide after they watch MY videos!

    thanks :o)
