  • Is the dance with women in it an incidental folkdance or is it part of the religious ceremony?

  • The dances with the women take place during the overall event, but in intermissions between the masked dances. I don't think they have any religious significance.

  • Do you have video of tsechus in Bhutan. If you do then, could you please upload more of it cos I have dying to watch tsechu. I haven't seen them for last 12 years of my life and I am Bhutanese, who had been living away from Bhutan.

  • Kuzu zangpo and Losar Tashi Delek!

I've only been to Bhutan once so far and so Paro is the only Tsechu I've seen. I do have some more video of that - just longer clips of each dance shown in this video, really - but I will try to upload them one day.

    Kadrin chhe for your comments!

  • thanks for sharing (^_^) what a splendid place to live ~ the chanting enlightens & calms me~ do you know of any more Bhutanese songs? i heard this one sung by Dhoma(female artist) but i can't seem to find it in its full form ~ mm, i can't find the paper in which i wrote it down either!

  • Hi Stephen,

Thank you a lot for the movie that you had uploaded for my web. It is really good to know that lot of people are interested.

    Thank you once again.

  • Reminds me of the way Tibet used to be. Rich culture and traditions, Bhutan sounds like a very interesting place to visit

  • By the way...this is a great video of the Festival in the Paro Dzong... it was the same this year....

  • I was in Lhassa in March of this year and observed from thye third floor of the holiest Temple in Tibet the arrest of many Tibetans in the square below. Maybe these Tibetans should have know that shouting "Tibet" and "Freedom" would have cost them their freedom....but they did anyway. There is not a single Tibetan in a government position in Tibet...they are all Chinese.

  • Only 22 of those attacked were Han and Hui Chinese. It is a sad thing that any people had to be killed to make a point. Those that committed such sins should be subjected under fair trial of court ruling. Majority of those people that died due to the protests were Tibetan. An estimation of close to 200 are accounted dead. I think Chinese people should feel some sympathy towards us as well. Jeez

  • I dont believe in shangrila. I also hate to see Bhutan marketed as that. The depth of culture and the charecter of the people are so unique, that they shouldnt be stuffed into a pre concieved notion such as shangrila.

  • WHAT IF THIS IS SHANGRI-LA?

  • some comments on the tibetan riots are absurd.

The ethnic hans and huis are being violently attacked by the local tibetans. And all the sympathy goes to those perpetrators of violence?
