Rehabilitation of child soldiers successful.07.10.2009-itn news Sri Lanka

The Governments programme to rehabilitate children conscripted by the LTTE is being successfully launched.
The children are being rehabilitated at Punthottam in Vavuniya. They are being provided school education and vocational training. The rehabilitation process has been stepped up under Uthuru Wasanthaya mooted under the guidance of Senior Presidential Advisor and Parliamentarian Basil Rajapaksa. The children undergoing rehabilitation have appreciated the facilities and knowledge granted to them.
UN representatives who inquired into the work discharged under this programme have expressed satisfaction. Young men and women undergoing rehabilitation at the Thelippalai centre in Jaffna have begun releasing various products to the market.
