QUICK TRIVIA: Who was the last legit 7-foot Rookie of the Year before Pau Gasol won it in 2002?

ANSWER: Shaq, 1992 (Tim Duncan 1998 ROY is 6-11).

So it's not surprising that both Shaq and Pau have become the best big men of their respective eras approximately 10 years apart. And they hold true the notion that Great Big Man anchored teams always win (with the exception of MJ of course). While Pau was really a Soph here (won ROY the year prior), his game was already incredible.

And actually, MJ was only 39 yrs and 304 days here but who's counting? When the greatest mid-range game there ever will be allows one to win 10 scoring titles at 51.5% through age 35 and hit 20+ppg at 45% on one leg at age 40 with surgery and three years of rust, nothing else really matters.

  • Kobe only had 1 great qtr the entire finals (Game 5), other than that he STUNK! He was a COMBINED 11-36 (30%) in ALL of the 4 qtrs & was 6-24 in Game 7!!

Gasol utterly outplayed him & was the REAL Finals MVP..

Kobe avg'd 28ppg on 24 shots in that series..that's HORRIBLE LOL!!

Gasol avg'd 19ppg 4apg 11reb 4bpg on 48.2 FG%, no to mention he blocked 18 shots & got 35 offensive rebs in that series. That means from his offensive rebs ALONE, he got 23 MORE possessions for L.A. than kobe did..

  • michael wearing his cool grey 11's :-)

  • @IndiasFinestCoD

It's said that every time that lame as joke is told by U idiots, kobe misses 3 more shots and LITERALLY inches CLOSER to becoming the All Time leader for most missed shots in history, like he's 1-2 seasons away from doing LOL!!

  • @blackadam06 It is said that for every MVP Kobe gets but doesn't deserve, LeBron travels 345253 times

  • Thats bad defense

  • Cool :) where can I see the full game?

  • @JivanNajarian

He's just stating the obvious. Kobe winning that MVP was a joke and even he knows it.

"Are you going to talk about his sports writing stats now?"

    SMH..that's funny.

But I will point out (once again) that in that finals, he was a COMBINED 11-36 (30%) in ALL of the 4th qtrs and was 6-24 (25%) in Game 7.

He avg'd 28ppg in that series, but it took him 24 shots a game to do it and for that mediocrity, he's awarded finals MVP?!!

    Like I said, that's a joke..and a BAD one at that..

  • @blackadam06 Lol Bill Plaschke said it then it must be true. Are you going to talk about his sports writing stats now?

Here's a link of LA sportswriter Bill Plashcke on if kobe deserved Finals MVP in '10:

"No! I'm still trying to figure out who voted for that? Absolutely not. Pau Gasol showed that [..] he was the heart & soul of the team last night. Kobe didn't even show up. They won in spite of kobe. Pau had 1 bad game in the series, but he fought off Garnett the whole time and came up big when they needed it. He's their emotional touchstone and should've been the MVP."

    LOL!!

  • @JivanNajarian

Aside from the 3 titles kobe has riding Shaq's coattails, how many does he have during the post Shaq seasons & B4 Gasol arrived?

  • @blackadam06

Wait a second....you forgot to mention how many championships he won in Memphis?
