I had so much fun making the Chinese Arch that I thought I might build the Japanese version, something I'd actually been wanting to do for quite some time. TBH I have a big interest in Asian architecture so it's likely that I may build more stuff like this in the future.

Once again, took about 3 hours to build, and I had yet another opportunity to get all pissed off at Linden Labs for programming build tools that are inflexible to a fault. I ended up having to construct the top of the arch in multiple segments because SL is incapable of creating curved objects larger than 10 meters. Although that turned out to be the least of my worries.

While I was building the damn thing a bunch of Patriotic Nigras decided to nuke the sandbox, it crashed shortly after and was down for about half an hour, I seriously thought I'd lost all my work. Luckily when the sim rebooted my arch was still there, however the whole region was fragged and lagged like a mother, so I moved it to another sandbox to finish.

  • now this is what second life is for an infinite toolbox for making things like beautiful architecture. shame its perverted by deviants and perverts who use a great creative tool as a means to be even more degenerate.

  • @danish211 Thank you. LOL, funny though, I was just writing an article about the 'other side' of SL. It surely is a mysterious dichotomy, just like RL I guess.

  • I am going to use this as model for the one that I am going to bild this summer in my back yard. I will post a vid of the progress. This a great 3D image for me to work off of. Thanks

  • Thank you. And good luck with your project!

  • Sounds like this was a really challenging project. Asian architecture is very interesting, I imagine is must be fairly difficult to render. I've always been curious about Second Life, esp. after I found out one of the main Linden Labs programmers has an actual Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. Made me want to sign up so I could at least have my avatar touched by his noodly appendage.

You'll notice I couldn't even make it a couple of days without YT - lol. Guess I'm a junkie...

  • I will tell you one thing, SL is an acquired taste with a pretty steep learning curve, I've gone back and forth between hating it and loving it ever since I joined. Still it's a unique community well worth sampling, and I've made some really great friends there.

    p.s. welcome to YouTuber's Anonymous ;)

  • I'm stunned. I thought I was the only one interested in the arch (Asian) I have made a two legged bench that looks like a Japanese arch. This summer I intend to put up the Chinese version in the back yard. Much larger , maybe 12 feet high and the proper proportions.

  • Hi. I'm Zach, and I'm a YouTube junkie. I've been off Youtube for...um...damn.
