I found the history of this song, and I beginning to understand this version better. The original was in Khmer made in the 60s, and the Khmer Surin version was from the 80s and it used code switching in Khmer Surin dialect and Thai.
Kristy's remake is from the Khmer Surin version, nonetheless Kristy's version is beautiful too.

Is this song in Khmer? Why are there subtitles then?

@w84skm2c , Hi, She actually does not have an accent when she sings in Khmer. She's singing in the style of Mor Lum which is to us Cambodians is the same style as Khmer Surin. So her accent is correct in that style of music. Hope that helps. :D She's captivated me as well.
Christy, I hope you sing more Khmer songs.

I'm Cambodian and I have a hard time understanding my own language at times, especially when it's spoken in a different dialect. This is beautifully done and Christy, you look amazing. You look like a Thai/Cambodian princess dressed in that amazing outfit. My friend just introduced me to you and Jonas last night and I've been watching many of your videos. I love 'em! It's always such a pleasure to see other races enjoy and embrace themselves in other races' culture.

@linaskittles Thank you for your kind words...& thank you to everyone who has taken the time to watch and comment. Your appreciation means a lot to us, truly. This really is a beautiful song, & though I am sure I could & should have done a better job of it, & hope to perhaps one day have the chance to do so, more than anything I hope that people see it for what it is--my heartfelt appreciation for the beautiful culture that this song and music represents. Thank you & I wish you all the best.

I know not a single word cause i don't speak the languages. But the lady was very pretty. But why would the two want to sing in these languages?
alicea5 1 year ago
@alicea5 Hi there and thanks for watching! We sing in these languages because we have grown up in Asia, and the majority of our lives in Thailand. We sing it because we want to say that it's beautiful and that you can appreciate the beautiful culture, music, and art of these countries, regardless of your skin color, race, or nationality. Thanks again for commenting. All the best to you!
