One of KF most remarkable recordings and still a landmark performance. It would be unfair to underestimate Boult's contribution to this recording although it is notable that KF brought out the best in all who worked with her. This special recording was the first to be recreated in stereo after her death by reassembling the orchestra in the same studio and having Kathleen 'perform' through a centrally place speaker while Boult recreated the earlier performances.

Beautiful recording by a great contralto. What would she have achieved had she not died so young?
