He definitely got it. The duck kept popping up every few seconds. You notice, it never popped up again. The Eagle easily got out of the water when it wanted to. It would not have stayed if it did not have something.

@brubodine only time you see them hunting together is when parent eagle is teaching baby proper hunting(at this point baby should be bigger than parent). and also it is not drowning the duck, eagles crush their prey to death very quickly, if hit properly the duck dies basically on impact

I thought for a minute that eagle was in trouble in the water but it seems he was just waiting for his dinner to quit fighting and then he flew off, no problem! Very impressive bird and a fine video of a cool nature moment.

The eagle caught the duck, then sat in the water with the duck submerged. I assume the eagle knew that the duck would drown after a couple of minutes. I don't know the species of duck. It is/was a small black duck that can dive for fish.
