@AEgamesFtw alright, let me explain. "whatever makes you sleep at night" is a phrase that basically means whatever you have to do to make your self comfortable. And if believing that this song is crap helps you be comfortable, then by all means, keep going with that belief. Another translation of the saying is "i don't care what you believe/think". And I don't really care. You can have your own opinion. I hope I've made that phrase crystal clear for you.

@democrat1515 I said the original was closer to punk than this because they can both have emotion. And it certainly does classify them in a category. The category of good music. Requisites: emotion or meaning.

I'm not fucking saying the turtles song was punk. But it's closer than this. For example, a punk would look at the turtles song and be like "It's not punk but whatever". A punk looks at this song and wants to kill all the members of simple plan. because they're anti-punk.

@AEgamesFtw Punk isn't the only music with emotion. And having emotion or not having emotion does not classify it in any category. What matters is the way they play the music, with the vocals, the bass instruments, the tempo, the message, and most importantly, the instruments.

@democrat1515 No. It's not ludicrious. The original had the possibility of original emotion put into it. That puts it in common with punk as they have emotion. This does not. Therefore original is more punk.

I listen to mostly Underground and alternative hip hop and Punk subgenres.

@democrat1515 They basically just speeded it up and added a squeeky voice. It's not an exact copy other than that OBVIOUSLY, but those are the important changes to the feeling of the song. I have no idea what emotion or emotions this version is representing, I listen to a lot of music and I can't feel any tangible meaning or emotion in this at all. The music has no synergy at all with the lyrics.

That said, this "interpretation" is far less punk than the original.
