Guam or Chamorro red rice......a must have at bbqs!! Enjoy my video on how to make red rice or Guam's rice.

  • RICE COOKER RECIPE:

    **3 c. short-grain rice**4 c. water**3 t. seasoning salt**2 t. garlic powder**1/4 c. canola or vegetable oil**1 packet achote powder**1 packet Goya con y cilantro (OPTIONAL, if not using, add more garlic powder, seasoning salt)**TASTE TEST BEFORE ADDING OIL**FOR LONG GRAIN RICE, use 5 cups water..adjust seasoning to taste

  • Lots of interest in red rice eh! HERE IS THE RECIPE FOR 5 cups of short-grain rice: ***5.5 to 6.5 c water** 4 T. vegetable oil (can add 2 to 4 more tbsp. of oil if you like your rice oily/very shiny)** 1 T. pork fat or 2 T. sliced bacon** 1/4 c. yellow onions, chopped** 1.5 t.. garlic powder** 3/4 t. salt** 1/2 t. black pepper** 5 t. seasoning salt** 7 T. FRESH achote seeds OR 1 packet achote powder** 1 packet Goya con y cilantro (optional, but I like it....has MSG)** ....follow the video :-)
  • OMG...I had to laugh! Fifty pounds of rice lasted my family for less than one month on Guam. Yes, any sticky rice will do. For long grain, the water is different...so you end up needing a bit more seasoning salt and such. THANKS FOR SHARING...and for the chuckle!

  • You may use the rice cooker. I only use the ingredients in the video: achote, garlic powder, seasoning salt, Goya con y cilantro.......onions, oil.
