Marcel Dupré's Cortege & Litanie, played by Dean Ryan on the Rushworth & Dreaper Organ of the Chapel of Christ's Hospital School, Horsham. Recorded June 2008 by Alex Boyall.
There was an organ in the music school (2 manual & pedals) which I played when my friend was Organist & Assistant Music Master there in the 1990s. I played the R&D chapel organ and the organ in the theatre (is this the Big School you mentioned?) but not the other two. The R&D organ was designed in 1931 by C S Lang who was the Organist. & Director of Music from 1929 - 1945. I believe his Tuba Tune was written for this organ to show off the magnificent Tuba stop on the West Organ (top manual)
Hi! Thanks for uploading this. I was in the chapel this morning, having dropped my brother off for entrance examinations at the school and went to have a look at the Chapel. I'd be pleased to hear more of the big Rushworth - also, any chance of hearing the Hill in Big School, the Willis in the Dining Hall, or the Flight & Robson in the Court Room? NPOR also seems to think there was a Bevington in the Music School, but that this has gone - is this true?
Most awesome fucking thing I've ever heard!

Now that is a very interesting note. Thanks for sharing that.

CH has the only 5-manual Rushworth in existence, I believe.

Rushworth and Dreaper is truly a fine firm of organ builders.

Well played until the litane, then it ran away. Well played anyway. Dupre isn't easy!
