CENTRAL PHOENIX - Almost 1,700 new U.S. citizens will be sworn in today at the largest ceremony held in Phoenix by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. During fiscal 2007, more than 650,000 were sworn in as U.S. citizens during naturalization ceremonies. That number includes almost 12,000 naturalized in Arizona.
The 1,698 new citizens range in age from 18 to 92 and hail from 108 countries.

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the armed forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."

  • @BringBakRok The date and place for my naturalization ceremony was given to me. But I never thought of having it elsewhere because I just wanted to be done with it. When you get to that point, let me know.

  • @nadaquefazer

Do you get to pick the date or place? Like say you want to have it in disney world or something

  • @lavenderparfume1 I believe mine was 2 hours long. it's been 8 years ago and it was in a room inside the Tucson Superior Court.

  • @nadaquefazer do you know how ong is the ceremony?

  • oh no i rather see bush than barack.

  • Wow!!! My naturalization ceremony wasn't that immense and I wish it was!

I can imagine how supportive- and with a sense of accomplishment- the inductees have felt!!! Thank you for posting this video!
