Cleveland, Ohio's very own Chip Tha Ripper joined me as a guest on The Mearablog Podcast just days before the release of his latest mixtape Tell Ya Friends.

Slated for release Monday, Tell Ya Friends will prequel Chip's first official studio LP, "Charles Worth," set to hit shelves in the summer of 2012.

"We've been planning for the summer of 2012 to release my album and it'll be called 'Charles Worth,'" Chip said. "Just looking forward to working on this album and really just going HAM for it, you know what I mean? Just going straight up just all about the 'Charles Worth' debut album."

The self-titled album will feature longtime friend and Hip hop partner Kid Cudi as executive producer, according to Chip. He also told me during our interview that Kanye West will be involved in some way on the album.

The SLAB Entertainment founder also discusses why he moved from his hometown of Cleveland to the warm shores of Cali but mentioned that Ohio Hip hop is on the rise. We discussed how the Buckeye state has a large variety Hip hop music sound and how the national scene is starting to take notice.

In regards to the possibility of him signing a major deal, Chip Tha Ripper, when asked about it during the middle portion of our interview, said, "I've had a few record label deal offers but I'm just waiting for that one that's life-changing, you know what I mean? That I can be totally happy with."

Finally, even though Chip has been in the Hip hop game for almost a decade, he is up for XXL's Freshman cover. Surprisingly, Chip has not received the honor but says, "It doesn't really make or break me or my credibility as far as viewing myself as an artist... If I can make it easier for my listeners to get around to me then that's all good for me."
