During WWII, the 101st Airborne Division (with a complement of 8000-12000 soldiers - depending upon the number of units assigned for each task) was divided into not less than 4 Regiments, a Regiment (2000 soldiers) was divided into 3 Battalions, a Battalion (600-650 soldiers) was divided into 4 Companies (150 soldiers).
The soldiers of Band of Brothers fame were Company E(asy), 2nd Battalion (I think), 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division.
