Synopsis :-

Two brothers are separated in childhood. The elder brother (Ashok Kumar) is a selfish man who has inherited the family fortune and is based in Madras. He is married to a wife devoted to him (Nirupa Roy) and has a son, a chubby little boy (Daisy Irani). The younger brother (Kishore Kumar) grows up on the streets of Bombay as a pick pocket. The elder brother comes to Bombay on business and falls prey to a femme fatales (Shyama) charms, planted to con him by her husband (Om Prakash) who is the elder brothers crooked branch manager and who claims she is his unmarried sister. The younger brother reforms due to the love of a street performer (Nimmi). He comes to the rescue of his sister-in-law and nephew when they come to Bombay and forces his errant brother back on the right track..

Can any one imagine that the composer did this song very reluctantly? An ordinary tune and pedestrian music interludes have been made into a timeless classic only because of one magic called Geeta Dutt. Long live the melody queen. This song turned out to be one of the most popular songs of the film!
