Cars don't have "kickdown" switches on the accelerator anymore. The computer determines when the car should downshift based on throttle position and engine load. Besides, "kickdown" is just that, a downshift. You're upshifting when you're accelerating from a stop.

kick down is dropping down gears to the optimum one for acceleration :/

Very fast, but I was under the impression that kickdown was only related to downshifting. As far as I'm aware, it should have no impact on acceleration... I used to have Volvo with kickdown.

yep your right there its mainly on automatic cars.
