Cantemos todos We are the world (somos el mundo) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, migrant workers! Come throng Hibiya Park, raise your voices and ..... play music? Say what? We count 17 years since we began the "Foreigner Shunto" back in 1993 to give voice to the voiceless and show the true face of migrant workers, our fellow workers who work in this society, support this society. Now as society begins to become in fact multiethnic and multi-cutlural, we have reached the point where immigrant policy is now being debated at the highest levels. Meanwhile, nearly all migrant workers still toil away on contingent employment and most migrant workers are treated as little more than disposable labor. This time 'round, we would like to get a plan together to bring in more allies than ever before to convey the energy and dynamism of migrant workers and the joy of a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural society. The meeting below will discuss such a plan. I know you're busy but get on down to this meeting and let's together make this thing a reality. Meet at Noon at the Hibiya Sho-on-gakudoh (Little Amphitheater) We will have musical performance, songs, dance etc. until 2:45pm when the stage will close and preparations for the march will begin. At 3pm the march leaves the Nishi-Saiwai Gate and head towards Tokyo Station. We finish up at 4:30pm. This call was created by the Foreign Worker Steering Committee, bringing together unions and other organizations in the greater Tokyo area that fight for the rights of foreigners. Contact Tokyo Occupational Safety and Sanitation Center at 03-3683-9765 or Zentoitsu Workers Union at 03-3836-9061 or NUGW Tokyo Nambu at 03-3434-0669. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
