This is part of the lecture where the speaker (an engineer) discusses his interacting with the doctor, who assumed he was intellectually-deficient. Despite the engineer's success with improving his diabetes, the doctors refused to accept that he could have that much intelligence -- to successfully defeat a disease that they (the doctors) said was impossible to beat.
Note: Studies show that African-Americans and other ethnic groups receive a lower quality of healthcare than Caucasian-Americans.
Racial profiling exists in many walks of life -- schools, work, police, doctors, hospitals, medical industry, shopping, etc.
The best thing to do is to arm yourself with knowledge.
